PHILLGOOD – the youngest festival in the Fest Team portfolio – takes its next big step and not only reveals new names for the already announced stages, but also adds a third, completely new one that further expands its musical universe. Between July 17 and 19 at the Rowing Base in Plovdiv, the program is arranged in three clearly distinguishable centers of attraction – the main stage PHILLGOOD, PHILLCOOL and the new electronic stage PHILLRAVE. With this, PHILLGOOD strengthens its ambition to become a festival of different worlds, tastes and audiences that coexist in a common experience, and with its latest wave of artists includes world visionaries and favorite Bulgarian talents. The diversity is no longer only in the artists – more than 25% of the tickets were bought by audiences outside Bulgaria, mainly from Europe, but also from places like Iceland, China, Mexico, Brazil and Kazakhstan, which definitely puts Plovdiv on the map of world festival routes this summer.
PHILLGOOD scene
Among the announced The Cure, Gorillaz, Moby, Wolf Alice, Kneecap, Just Mustard, Sleaford Mods, Perturbator, Suede, Einstürzende Neubauten, Thievery Corporation, Apashe & Brass Orchestra, Kadebostany, Hayes & Y and ALI, the festival adds new artists who bring fresh ideas, musical experimentation and their own sound. On the main stage, three more strong musical names join PHILLGOOD’s program. For July 17, it’s Brits The Subways with their infectious indie rock and bright guitar riffs, melodicism and mix of energy and nostalgia that have made them a worldwide fan favorite since the early 2000s. Joining the stage on the last day of the festival is the Son Lux project – the experimental American trio that creates music on the edge between post-rock, electronica and chamber drama, with intense arrangements that send the audience into unknown musical territories. The latest name for the main stage on July 18 is the multicultural London quartet Los Bitchos with their bright, instrumental surf-exotica, who in a matter of years have become one of the most recognizable live names on the modern indie scene. From Glastonbury and Coachella to our PHILLGOOD, Los Bitchos turn every concert into a colourful, danceable and totally immersive experience.
PHILCOOL scene
PHILCOOL shapes its identity around modern, cult and genre-liberating artists with a clear authorial presence. On July 17, on the second stage, right after The Cure’s set, the legendary group KLAS will take the stage, celebrating 40 years on the Bulgarian stage, and their fans are looking forward to seeing them active in the modern concert life as well. Bulgarian Cartrader, the project with an international sound and a fine blend of indie and electronic influences, is part of the program for the same day. On July 18, PHILCOOL will welcome Bile & Gena and Jin Monic, names – part of the living pulse of the Bulgarian independent scene. And on July 19, on the last festival day, at PHILCOOL, which is emerging as one of the most dynamic festival areas, we will see the Bulgarians Lunikk and Hug or Handshake.
PHILLRAVE scene
PHILLRAVE is PHILLGOOD’s newest, third stage and is the natural home of electronic music with character, an essential part of the festival experience. PHILLRAVE gathers internationally recognized artists from the most interesting and active trends in the club scene today. On July 17, Acid Arab, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan and Ison set the opening beat with deep, techno and modern electronic influences. On July 18, the stage shifts to new wave with Sofia Kourtesis, HAAi, KiNK and Raredub, artists known for dynamic, precise sets and a strong connection with the audience. The finale on July 19 is entrusted to Kelly Lee Owens, Ursiny Swimming Paul, Pretty Girl and Liubo Ursiny, who will close PHILLRAVE with mesmerizing and danceable electronic energy.
